| GREAT DANES Specializing in Harlequins, Blacks, Mantles, Brindles and Fawns. American and European lines. We are a small show home in the desert of Southern California. We take great pride in our Dane's and only breed the best quality dogs we can. Our Dane's are raised in our home with our children. They are very spoiled and your puppy will be too. Each of our dogs are a family member. We rarely have any adults for sale as these guys/gals are part of our family. We breed for ourselves. We only breed to enhance our lines and to hopefully get our next show puppy for ourself or our friends. We will usually keep one or two puppies from each litter and place all show puppies on co-own. When you get a puppy from us you can rest assured that you are getting a happy and healthy pet. Puppies are kept here until at least 8 weeks of age but sometimes even until 24 weeks of age for show puppies. The longer a puppy has with it's mother the better the puppy will be for you. Pet Dane's can usually go home around 8 weeks of age. Flying can be traumatic on a little puppy. Send us an email and we will gladly explain our shipping policy in detail. Shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Most of our puppies go to pet homes with a spay/neuter contract or are spayed/nuetered before leaving us. PUPPIES THAT ARE SOLD ON LIMITED REGISTRATION WILL NOT COME WITH PAPERS. YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR PAPERS ONCE PROOF OF SPAY OR NEUTER HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO US. We on occasion have a show marked puppy for sale. Show puppies will be sold under a show contract. We offer specials and discounts to clients who are looking to show one of our dogs. Please inquire about these deals. There is only one difference between a show puppy and a pet puppy from us, that is color. All our Dane's are bred to be show dogs, just not all of them get the show colors. We do breed to non-show colors if we feel the qualities are there to better the breed. You may find us offering a non-show marked pup as a breeder, this is because we feel the health and qualities of that puppy are what is important not the color. What do you get: All our puppies have their dewclaws removed, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, received proper worming, a vet exam, a written personality profile, collar, puppy pack which includes sample of current food, supplements, information on training and care, and a written health guarantee. Airlines do not allow us to ship puppies with toys any longer. Some show Dane puppies, those held back to evaluate show potential, will already have their ears cropped. Price for those puppies will include the price of the crop. At 6 weeks puppies are separated from the litter for different periods throughout the day. This will help you once they come home to make the adjustment to an only puppy. All puppies begin paper training or doggy door training (ear cropped puppies don't fit through the doggy door comfortably), leash training, come, off, no and sit commands. Once you name your puppy it will begin learning his/her name. EAR CROPPING: Dane's can have their ears cropped while here with us. We use the best Dane crop Vet's on the West Coast. For that it comes with a price. Our price to crop is $350 min. Cost of cropping is $325, 8 hour round trip drive for us, the 2 to 3 times per day cleaning and care, an extra week with us which could increase the cost of shipping and we only charge you $350. There are breeders who get cheaper crops however we are not one of them, it's California. We also do not feel you should crop a puppy beyond 9 weeks of age. Puppies who are offered for sale with ear cropping already done will have their ears cropped in a show crop, either long or medium in length. If you choose to have the puppy cropped here we can get you a shorter or more manageable non-show crop if preferred. Please make sure you understand the time and money involved in ear cropping. Ear cropping requires weekly or bi-weekly re-wraps up to a year of age, with this they still may not stand properly. I figure the cost of proper ear taping supplies add up to about $150 or more. If you can not commit to this do not put the dog through it!!! We are now offering a kit for cropped ears. You can purchase this kit from us when you purchase your puppy. It will include 12 rolls of tape, 24 ear stays, 1 can of glue, glue remover, powder and alcohol pads. Price is $85.00, shipping included. Things you should know before buying a Great Dane. Great Danes are inside dogs. They do not have a coat that will protect them when left outside. Harlequins can get sunburnt. ALL our Dane's are kept indoors as part of our family. We expect the same from you. We do crate train all our Danes. Danes are GIANTS! If you cherish your perfectly neat house with all you nick/nacks laying around forget the Danes. Their tails alone can clear a coffee table in one swipe. Dane's need special food requirements. They can not be fed cheap puppy food! Store brands, Pedigree, Puppy Chow, etc are not acceptable foods. They need a high quality giant breed puppy food until they are about 1-2 years old. Feeding a Dane is not cheap. Our average food cost for a Dane is about $30 to $50 per month per Dane for adults, puppies eat a lot more. You will all so need to purchase an elevated feeder for your Dane. Vet costs are also more. The larger the dog the more they charge. Danes are all so known to not tolerate general anesthetic well. They need special anesthesia. Please see www.gdca.org for surgical guidelines that you need to discuss with your Vet. Check with your Vet and see if they can accommodate your requirements. You can over exercise a Dane. Too much exercise on a young growing Dane can cause a number of physical problems, however not enough can be worse. Over crating has been shown to cause low croup, etc. Early obedience training is required when purchasing a Dane from us. They grow so fast and any behavioral problems need to be handled early. Our vaccination schedule is as follows: Puppies are not vaccinated until 8 weeks of age. We prefer our puppies not be vaccinated against Lepto or Corona virus until 4 months of age if appropriate. Puppies should not get more than 3 sets of vaccines. Over vaccinating can cause a number of health problems. Learn to protect your puppy at home before vaccinating. If you are in high risk zone for heart worm we do require you to put your pet on heart worm prevention. We Vaccinate our own dogs at 10 weeks and 16 weeks. Rabies is always given at a different time than other vaccines. We do not sell to people who believe in outdoor pets. Please understand this before you buy from us. We do not sell to brokers. When you get a pet from us it is with the intention that you will keep this dog for the life of the pet. If you can not keep your pet it is to be returned to us. This may require you to arrange special transport for an adult Dane to get back to us. If you are interested in a Great Dane from us please click the following link for an application. Puppy Application Prices can vary due to things such as age, markings, pedigree, ear cropping, limited or unlimited registration, etc here is a list of some prices you might expect from us. This is a general price list, each puppy will be priced individually. Important: We take great pride in what we produce. We spend time, money and energy in each and everyone of our puppies. There are breeder who will lower their prices as their puppies get older. We do NOT on our show puppies. As our puppies get older we spend more time, training, and money on them. In return we may have to charge more for them. If you intend on waiting to purchase in hopes of a lower price please look elsewhere. We are not a business, we are a serious hobby breeder. We are not in the business of breeding to sell puppies. We breed to produce something special for ourself. SHOW/BREEDER COLORS WE OFFER LOWER END PRICES ARE FOR LIMITED REGISTRATION ONLY PET COLORS THAT MAY APPEAR IN A LITTER THESE ARE NOT RARE, THEY ARE JUST PET COLORED. 99% OF THE TIME WE ONLY OFFER THESE COLORS UNDER LIMITED REGISTRATION IF WE HAVE THEM. WE DO NOT BREED TO TRY AND GET THESE COLORS. Stud service is available to approved females. We only feed our pets High quality pet food that contains chicken, lamb, fish, beef and brown rice, NO CORN products. PLEASE FOLLOW THIS LINK TO SEE OUR NEW FEEDING PROGRAM FOR ALL GREAT DANE PUPPIES. BLACK WATCH FEEDING PROGRAM We recommend the same for any puppies you get from us. There is no corn in this food and it offers a complete balance of ingredients. Check out www.drsfostersmith.com www.eaglepack.com We do OFA hips, CERF eye's, test thyroid, OFA Cardiac. Some things you should know when purchasing a puppy from us. We do not sell to puppy mills or brokers. We do not sell to individuals who believe in out door pets, yes this means our Danes too. All our puppies are to go to homes that will include them as a part of their family. We have the right to refuse to sell you a puppy. All puppies will be listed with their price and registration information. Puppies that are listed as limited registration will be sold under a spay/neuter contract or be spayed or neutered before leaving us. Puppies listed as show potentials are not guaranteed to do well in a show, they are only showing signs of a potential show dog based on color, markings and personality. All puppies sold on full registration will be placed on a co-own only. Individual terms to be discussed with individual puppy purchaser. Puppies grow and change daily and we can never guarantee size, shape or conformation when older. Our puppies usually go home between 8 to 24 weeks of age. Show potentials may be required to stay here until 4 to 6 months of age. This way we can better asses there show qualities. We offer lifetime support for you and your puppy. There is no mark up on cropping. Our fee to the Vet is $385, we will send you the receipts, the round trip drive is 8 hours for us and we only charge you $15 for fuel. Shipping can end up costing us more as well due to the extra week the puppy will remain with us. If you want your puppy cropped before leaving us, you must pay for the puppy in full minus the shipping cost prior to the crop. We crop at 7 weeks but will make the appointment at 6 weeks. The puppy may not leave for 10-14 days after the crop or until stitches are removed. This is non-refundable. Shipping: Some people do not know how shipping works or why we charge what we charge. Here is a simple break down. We will arrange shipping to you. There are times of the year that we may not be able to ship to you due to heat or cold and the airlines that can fly into your local airport. We do not guarantee that we can ship to you. We ship from Ontario, Ca or LAX airport. We must travel 2 to 4 hours one way to the airport so we must try and ship as many puppies from a litter the same day. We try to book the shortest flights and weekends as well. We must obtain a health certificate for your puppy dated no more than 10 days prior to the flight. If you delay shipping it will cost you a second health certificate. Due to the stress of the flight we ask that you arrive at the airport on time to avoid letting your puppy sit there alone. Not all airports can accept pet shipments. We do NOT guarantee we can ship a puppy to you. If we can not fly a puppy to you, you must make arrangements to pick the puppy up. Price: Our costs are, Health certificate $59.00 each puppy. Crate $29 to $50 for an 8 week old puppy. Travel costs for us $50. The airlines charge prices based on anything from distance of flight, weight of puppy and crate, etc. Experience has been $189 to $250 covers the basic flight of a 8 week old puppy. We can usually ship you 2 puppies in the same crate for only $100 more(our charge to you). Your Price: We may only charge you $325 for Dane puppies. There is no mark up for shipping, actually we pay for part of it. Please understand that older puppies are larger and can cost significantly more. We must pass on some of the extra cost on to you in these cases. Please understand that if you ask us to delay shipping. Delivery: Delivery is an option for those close enough to us. We will deliver or meet you for a mileage based fee. Due to the rising price of fuel we can not estimate delivery costs until time of purchase. We will at the time of deposit and agreement set a price, whether the price of fuel rises or falls that will be the set price. Some areas we can deliver to is San Diego area, Los Angeles area and the areas in between as well as others in Southern California or Nevada. Delivery option is only up to us. We can refuse to deliver any puppy. SHIPPING PRICE IS BASED AT THE TIME OF SALE. THE ABOVE CHARGES ARE ONLY A BASELINE ESTIMATE. ALL PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
